History:

Lepidolite was first discovered in 1861 by Robert Bunsen and Gustav Kirchhoff, it was originally called “ Lilalite” because of its lavender colour.

It was then named Lepidolite from the Greek word “lepidos” meaning “scales” because of its scaly appearance caused by the presence of Lithium in the stone.
