What is the function of a prayer wheel?
The use of a prayer wheel stems from the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. A wheel with a mantra on it - often Om mani padme hum, the mantra of compassion - is turned to disperse the energy of the sacred sounds into space. In this way, your immediate surroundings, body and consciousness are purified and charged with the positive energy of that mantra.
