History 

Onyx is relatively rare gem in nature it is a type of Agate, the name comes from the Greek “onux” meaning “claw” referring to the minerals appearance.

The Indians and Persians used onyx as a protection against the Evil eye, they also thought that placing the stone on a stomach of a pregnant woman during the labor can reduce the pain and bring on an earlier delivery.

Romans carved the images of the God Mars and hero Hercules into the stone as it was believed that the stone can protect the wearer from all kind of negativity and adversaries and give them courage in conflicts and battles

There is a legend about the Origin of Onyx, it says that the goddess Venus was resting on the banks of the river Indus one of the biggest rivers in the Indian sub-continent flowing from Tibet through India and Pakistan.

As Venus slept a Cupid used the end of one of his enchanted arrows to give her a manicure, it is said that the pairings from her nails fell in to the water of the river. The  nails of heavenly origins fell to the bottom of the sacred river and were metamorphosed into Onyx.
